S.D. Bob "Snake" Plissken is the protagonist of Carpenter's Escape from New York and Escape from L.A..
Biography[]
Escape from New York[]
Plissken is arrested for robbing the Federal Reserve with his friend Taylor, who was killed by the United States Police Force. After the president of the United States crash lands into the prison of Manhattan Island, Plissken is offered a pardon for his crimes in exchange for rescuing the President.
To ensure that he completes this task, explosive devices are injected into his arteries and set to explode in 24 hours. He succeeds in his mission, but replaces the President's tape with one of "Bandstand Boogie" and destroys the real tape as he walks away.
Escape from L.A.[]
Sixteen years after rescuing the president, another man has taken office and declares himself president for life. This president instates laws based on morals and turns Los Angeles (now its own island) into a prison. When the president's daughter steals the "Sword of Damocles" and goes to Los Angeles, Plissken is sent in to get the superweapon after being infected with a virus that will kill him within a day.
After succeeding in his mission, Snake uses the Sword of Damocles to shut down all electronic devices on Earth.
